As winter grips our community and temperatures plunge, many of our neighbors experiencing homelessness are facing not just discomfort — but potentially life-threatening danger. Street Reach can help.
When someone sleeps on the street during cold weather, they run the risk of hypothermia, frostbite, and other severe cold-related injuries.
Exposure to cold temperatures can begin to harm the body even before it reaches freezing, and for people without shelter, the risk is dramatically higher than for those with stable housing.
That’s why we’re reaching out today with a tangible way you can help — from your phone.
Meet Our Winter Ally
Street Reach is a free mobile app created by Strategies to End Homelessness that lets you be our eyes and ears in the community.
When you see someone who may be at risk — especially in freezing weather — you can:
Open the app (available on iPhone and Android)
Submit a simple report with a description and location
Send that information directly to our Central Access Point Helpline
Dispatch trained Street Outreach workers to check on and help that person.
Street Outreach teams do incredible work every day. Helping people into emergency shelter, connecting them to vital services, and working with them toward long-term housing.
But they can’t be everywhere at once. That’s where you come in.
Download Street Reach today and turn compassion into action.
– iPhone: Street Reach Mobile App Store
– Android: Available through Google Play
Whether it’s a freezing night or a sudden cold snap, your quick report could be the thing that helps someone find warmth, safety, and support.
Every report you send through Street Reach helps bring someone one step closer to safety.
Thank you for standing with our neighbors in need. And a special thanks to our partner organizations working tirelessly to help keep people safe this winter.
