Who is Homeless in Cincinnati?

Wednesday, August 30, 2023

Our goal is to prevent as many people as possible in Cincinnati and Hamilton County from becoming homeless. We aim to provide high-quality assistance to those who are homeless, and provide solutions to homelessness through housing.

We also work to better understand the collective data on who is homeless. In turn we and our 30 partner agencies throughout Greater Cincinnati can provide appropriate services and fill gaps in the system where needed.

Who is Homeless in Cincinnati?

The answer may surprise you.

But, before we can talk about data and who is homeless, we must first define what homelessness means.

In our report, we discuss data and trends regarding people who are: sleeping in a place not meant for human habitation (such as on the streets, under a bridge, in a car), residing in an emergency shelter, or fleeing domestic violence.

Attention Media Members

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has charged Strategies to End Homelessness with management of our community’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). Our 30+ funded agencies provide data on a daily basis.

If you need any specific data points that we may be able to provide, please email us. Any other data provided by another source may use a classification of ‘homeless’ not recognized by HUD or eligible for HUD-funding, i.e. people “doubled up” or “couch surfing”.

The data below represents total Street Outreach & Emergency Shelter Data: Individuals and Households Served.
